I purchased a C2 in Pennsylvania last fall. It is a very nice car with a frame off including picutres and window sticker. The fellow I bought it from is a very nice guy, but is reluctant to give me the person's name who did the restoration work. I paid asking price for the car, and I would like to have this to further document when it was done and get more info about the car. His reluctance if because he feels that this individual would be upset about the car's sale.

I feel I am entitled to get as much info as possible. Since my seller won't cooperate, I would like to trace the owner who had the frame off done. The work was done in Pennsy. Do any of you have any ideas? Can the car be traced through Motor Vehicles in Penna. If I cant go around 'the roadblock', maybe I'll go around it.

I dont know about about PA but in NY they wont let that information out anymore (invasion of privacy, personal information) thing now.I was looking to get info on my 81 but the dmv tells you on their web site it wont be released.so dont be suprised if you cant find out.

good luck bill:w :w

dlr,

Maybe if you explained to the seller, that eventually the owner that had the frame off and the person doing the frame off will find out the car has been sold. It would be a whole lot better for them both to know that their car and restoration went to a very nice home.

As I mentioned some day a previous owner or someone from the shop that did the restoration will be at a show are Corvette event you have the car at ... they will be able to recognize their old car and workmenship ;) I would think they would both want to know instead of finding out months or years afterwards... Besides the seller isn't going to be able to keep others from not telling previous owner and restoration shop about the sale :eyerole

If you have all the invoices and billing from previous owner, there may be something in those for the paint or parts and where they were sent :confused .

Ask other Corvette owners around the area where you bought the car, a former club member or someone knows who did the Restoration, if it was a good job, people recommend places like that to other Corvette owners ;)

Good Luck..

Some guys just don't want to help, for whatever reason. I've traced my '67 back to the guy who bought it from the original owner, and that's where it stops; I have a good address and phone number for the guy, and have talked to people who know him, but he simply refuses to answer any of my letters or respond to my phone calls. Go figure. :eyerole
