A month or so ago, I had a private exchange with a VetteNet mail list member who told me that Global West Suspension, makers of the premium "Del-A-Lum" control arm bushings, had discontinued their 63-82 front control arm bushings.
I was distressed to hear this as I've used Del-A-Lum on my 71 BB Cpe for nearly 20 years and feel they are a great product.
Periodically, I visit Global West and one of those visits was today. I had lunch with Global's owner, Doug Norrdin. He told me that some of his retail dealers don't stock C2/C3 pieces and if they don't stock it, they sometimes think certain parts aren't made at all. It is possible that the information which was relayed to me, came from one of Global's dealers rather than the company itself.
In fact, Global West still makes C2/3 control arm bushings. It also finally went to production with the tubular rear trailing arm, a prototype of which has been on my 71 for a number of years. This arm is incredibly rigid, has an offset for use with big tires and can be had with either a spherical bearing or a urethane bushing in the small end. Global West is also considering a "negative roll kit" (typically these are upper and lower control arms with revised suspension geometry) for 63-82.
So, it seems, interest in C2/3 pieces is high right now at Global West.
If you want to order Del-A-Lum bushings for the early cars, order direct from Global West by phone. Call 877 470 2975.
