GM Factory Buy Back

I have a 2000 vert that was a GM "factory buy back" car. To what extent does that affect the value of the car?

Dont know about the value but I know they dont take them back unless they have been with a dealer at least 45 days with in the first 18 month or 18,000 miles (Ithink) or been back to have the same problem coreceted nore then 3 times.

What was the reason for the buy back and how many miles were on the vehicle?

See if a dealer will run a repair history on the car. It should have all the past information. Most likely it was just taken back because the owner had a lawyer handle it. Most companies will just lemon law it rather than fight in court especially if they can sell it for a good price. If the car is fine now it was probably some BS problem that took awhile to pin down. It may affect the resale value if someone sees it was a buy back car but if you have the info and are honest it shouldn't cause too much of a problem or impact the value more than a few hundred dollars. It's not like it has a salvage title or was in a big crash. If you keep it long enough it won't even matter. Most older Vettes are rebuilt to some degree anway. Just enjoy it and have fun.

I know a dealer that can run the repair history on the car amail me the vin and I will contact him on monday

If GM dose indded buy the car back, do you get full retail of the car or market valuse based on the current condition? Can you just swap a "lemmon" for a new one?

The offer GM made me was, I felt, ridiculously low. that's why I still have the car.
