GM Key Code for 82?

Does any one know the letter on GM key blanks?

I got some on Ebay. My origional door has a K on it. The replacement does too.

But, my old-n-busted knock off ignition key has an A on it, but the new GM key has a J on it???ad

Any one know which is correct for an 82 before I b*tch and moan to the seller?

Just got a new set. Ignition has nothing on it. Door key has a "K". Ones that came with the car are aftermarket with "5R" on ignition and "11R" on door key.

I dont know if this helps or not.. I ordered a set off ebay for the '81...

Ignition is a E.. and the other is an H. They work great btw.. well if I had not let the battery discharge over the winter !

Right out of the NCRS manual:

1982 J = square ignition K = oval doors & other lockables

Tom - The manual agrees with your 81 keys.

Thanks guys!

The P.O. must have swapped the ignition lock.

I am glad I checked before yelling and screaming.

Hopfully the guy will switch them for my "A" lock.
