I was on my way to a local car show tonight to meet some other ZR-1 owners when comming up behind me very fast was an SVT Cobra who wanted a piece of me. Man this thing was bad to the bone and was not stock at all. Skinny pizza wheels on the front and big meats on the back. He had at least twice the horse power my stock ZR-1 had cuz he left me like I was standing still. I knew I was way out gunned. After that was over he was in front of me and at 50mph he laid rubber for at least a block sending chunks of it flying into my windshield. Thats how much power he had. It was very impressive to say the least. Funny thing is the kid driving it couldn't have been more than 19 years old. But he sure did open up a can of whoop ass on me.

At least you had the nuggies to run it! Imagine how much money this 19 year old had in the motor, Imagine the mod's you could do to your motor with the right amount of ching. Speed is money and everyone has different priorities, How fast do you really need to go on the street? :thumb

But at the end of the day he is still a mustang... and you are still a CORVETTE. :upthumbs

You can turn any car into a 9 second 1/4 mile car if you sink enough money into it. I know there are pavment ripping ZR-1's out there. Last time I was at Corey Hendersons shop there were 2 black 91 Z's that dyno'd at 650rwhp. From the outside they looked bone stock but when he popped the hood and started the car it shook from those 4 big high performance cams and a long list of other mods. All it takes is money.;)

But you must remember all the little pleasures that you have to give up with having serious horsepower, solid lifters, In my opinion you run the car a couple times it's time for adjustment, do that on a nice hot steamy day... been there! or driving with the heater on for a little more cooling... been there or picking up your feet off the floor because of all the heat coming off the collectors... been there. as far as I'm concerned my 99 ride's beautiful and has decent power and my 96 rides really well and in my opinion has a little more in it to play around but when I'm in the cockpit on these nice hot day's I still feel the heat coming off the tranny. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm very content with what I have! And it absolutly isn't owning two mustang's!!! :beer

I totally agree. The only Mustang that I care to own is my 1968 for classic car reasons. Also because its a matching #s car. I don't plan to go heavily modify the vette anytime soon because it runs so good the way it is. Plus its going to be worth more money later on in its original state.:)

Loads of horsepower and skinny front tires sounds like a great recipe for the quarter-mile but not so much fun for the street where such concepts as "corners" and "stops" are reality and a bitter one at that if you're forced to do so and cannot.

True. But this was on the freeway perfect for a drag car. In America light to light determines who wins.;)

hum...ported stock blower, pullie, tune, exhaust and headers....grand total...about $5,000 even with that much money into a zr-1, you would still probably get beat below 120

True enough. I prefer the long haul; my Canadian heritage, I suppose.
