Well, I finally got ole Roxy out to the strip tonight. My inexperience surely showed. The stroker defintely roars, but I had some issue with getting out of the hole quickly and without a humungous burnout.

My best time was a 14.7 (with a reaction time that was HORENDOUS). I guess I can't whip around that long-throw 4-spd as fast as I thought. Anyway, the track is a good time as long as you don't get too wrapped up in your times.

It's definitely an awesome rush! Too bad chevy had the '81 speedo only go up to 85. I probably should go back and check to make sure the needle didn't wrap around the stop!;LOL

Congrats Tim:

But it sure as hell was FUN - -wasn't it ??

First rule someone told me was to pay no attention to the car in the other lane... consistancy comes with practice. Normally you only lose to yourself. I know, I lost a lot. :L

Let us know how things progress. :upthumbs

I probably won't bring it back to the strip anytime soon. I feel a bit guilty after each run for driving her so hard. I might bring her back next year after I do my exhaust.

It was a lot of fun though.

let's see the time-slips.....!

Run #1R/T ... .344
60 .... 2.267
330 ... 6.283
1/8 ... 9.579
MPH ... 74.50
1000 ... 12.389
1/4 ... 14.802
MPH ... 92.49

(my opponent this run was a '78 or '79 vette that run 12.518 @ 111.222 mph!)

Run #2
R/T ... .532
60 .... 2.287
330 ... 6.874
1/8 ... 10.235
MPH ... 74.20
1000 ... 13.094
1/4 ... 15.50
MPH ... 92.34

(i ran against my buddies '03 SS silverado that ran 14.1 @ 94.66. but he's supercharged)

Run #3
R/T ... .394
60 .... 2.492
330 ... 6.610
1/8 ... 9.875
MPH ... 76.25
1000 ... 12.669
1/4 ... 14.993
MPH ... 95.98

Run #1I had a weak launch. Launch 2 was basically a 3000 rpm clutch dump that resulted in my having to let of to "hook". My third start, I dropped from just over 2grand, and still had insane traction problems. My first run was in the left lane, which I feel had more traction. Plus I think I might have gotten a little bit of water on my rear tires runs 2 and 3. (I wasn't doing burnouts).
I was shifting about 4500-5000rpms.

My tires are Brigestone Potenzas 225/70/15's. I think they are a "harder" tire compound. I probalby could have let some air out of them for more grip, but I wanted to continue driving it the way I am used to.

Looks to me like your first run was the best. Your 60 foot time indicates less tire spin and you ended up with the best ET of the three runs.

Slam those gears and grind those ponies into the pavement. Now I'm all excited.........guess I better go out and thrash my car a while tonight.
