Danaka Patrick may enter Nascar next year.I hope her first act is to put Robbie Gordon down three laps.I wish her the very best and I also hope she's picked up by Gibbs.

Anything for an expanded fan base......I wish her luck but it's gonna be tuff!

can she see over the steering wheel?

If not, she can sit on a couple of phone books. That should add to her power to weight ratio and make the critics happy. :D

Or Robby Gordon could lose a few pounds. ;)

She's going to have her work cut out for her, but I admire her spunk and wish her the best.

Frankly, I think it would be a huge career mistake for Danica….Can you say “Sara Who?”

She has had the opportunity of better equipment than any of her predecessors in USAC, CART, or IRL, but Rahall Letterman as a team is struggling this year so she’s out of the top 10 in points and she’s not happy about that.

Understandably so. But could she do better running for Team Ganassi, Penske, or Andretti – Green? Perhaps, but is there or will there be an opening?

Shear numbers suggests that even though Danica is a major draw, she may need the IRL more than it needs her and NASCAR doesn’t need her at all.

The IRL has 10 full time teams representing 19 rides.
Champ Car has 9 full time teams representing 17 rides
NASCAR has 22 full time teams representing 43 rides

And of NASCAR’s competitors, only 10 will be eligible to compete for the Championship.

IMHO, it would behoove Danica to win an IRL event or two before the IRL / Champ Car merger which is looking like it might happen in 2008. With some wins under her belt, she could either stay with Rahall or be in a better position to negotiate a stronger ride.

Does she have the talent for NASCAR? Perhaps but does she have the stamina and grit to go 32 races against 42 other teams so that she might make The Chase?

It might be a coup for Toyota to pick her up, but then she’d be working for Michael Waltrip who is a Career Also Ran. No matter how much money Toyota throws at it, their success will not come in the first couple of years ~ if at all.

So to Danica, I would say “Stick with the horse that brung ya!”

Just my $.02

Looks like I'm not alone in my assessment.

Slide sidetrack of the thread (if thats ok Vett Boy?)

The article also mentions JPM returning to NASCAR after he announced he wanted to go, he was kicked out of F1 (well, more pleasently). Any thoughts on that ??
