Hi everyone. I just found this place and decided to join. I recognize a number of names from other forums as well...

I need some clarification here...

It is my understanding that:
1970 & 72 Have two horns (high and low notes)
1973 had only one horn
1974 & 75 a second horn was optional
1976 and 77 a second horn was standard

So if you have a second horn on a 73 would that mean it was added by an owner, or was it possible to have had one put in as a Dealer option or maybe special factory order?

Thanks for any input,

Matt

Matt,
I don't have an answer to your question, but welcome to the CAC! :w
Hopefully some C3 guys will be along to help out shortly :)

Welcome Matt!

That didn't come out right...

Welcome to Corvette Action Center.

No answer, but you may wish to check our Model Center for information. Is there a chance your vette was built early or late, taking advantage of the second horn?
Beautiful vette!

Yo! MATT

The schematic in the shop manual ( for a 73) ONLY shows 1.. signal horn.. there's a second.. but it's for the ALARM at the rear of the car.

According to the Corvette Restoration Guide by Richard Prince the single horn was used in 71, 72, 73, & early 74. The horns for 71 & 72 were the same, but different from 73 and early 74.
The original horn for a 73 should be mounted just to the right of the driver side headlight vacuum solenoid. It has a P/N 900032.
A second horn can be easily installed. A dealer or an owner can do it quickly. Check to see the location of the second horn and how the power supply wire is routed to it. On two horn cars the second horn wire is jumpered from the the first horn wire terminal.

Hi Guy!

:w

So where in Tejas beest thou?

Sorry onthe horn front, my '75 doesn't have one!

A previous owner checke dthe "horn delete option" I guess! :s

Some of the C3 owners in the DFW area got together a few weeks back to annoy the local Viper League....we didn't even have JACKETS!!! (Not to mention no cool NAME BADGES!!!!) :(

If you come to one of our things though, park next to another car, not mine....it might start crying.....I love that color! (Mine is "mixed touch-up red"....)
