No intro yet until I bring home my first Corvette this coming Tuesday, but I do have an important question and couldn't find it in the search. Is anyone using Grundy Classic Cars Ins., and if so have you been satisfied with them?

Welcome! My husband had a '74 convertible and insured it with Grundy for the 4-5 years he had it. The cost was very inexpensive, the coverage was great, and I don't remember that he had a very limited mileage clause.

Thanks for your response. I don't think there are many restrictions. I saw them advertised on 'My Classic Car' and it sounded pretty good. Also it looks like I might be moving up to Saturday instead of Tuesday for getting my first vet.:D

Welcome to CAC!

I can't remember which one I tried to sign my son up for but basically when you answer the questions the "correct answers" are that you are only using your car for a car show or they won't insure you. I think its okay to be getting parts. No nearby errands, you have to have a garage and send them photos of it and have another car that you use full time for work etc.

Since my car will only be on the road for about 1/2 the year I am thinking it might just be cheaper to go through the regular insurance company with no restrictions.

Anyway that was just my interaction with Grundy or their major competitor. I think if you search on Grundy or Insurance on this site you will find some threads about this topic.

I think that may be Haggerty, but the websites of both Haggerty and Grundy should give you a good idea of what their insurance covers and what restrictions there are.

Ah... anticipation. I remember it very well.

Welcome to the :CAC and congratulations on acquiring your first!!

If you live in TN and the bike in your avatar is yours, I daresay you're a DragonSlayer. ;) You'll find many here that share your dream of Corvette ownership and DragonSlaying.

Please share pix ASAP of your first Vette. If there's anything we love as much as Corvettes, it's photos of Corvettes. :_rock

Enjoy!

i have Grundy and it's great. it is inexpensive, i couldn't find any others that could beat the coverage(especially typical insuranse companies). i set the value, signed the form saying that the car is not a daily driver sent a couple of pics and the deal was done. Grundy doesn't care if i drive the car(goin for a cruise,cruise-ins,shows,club outings, etc.). a good friend of mine is a hotrod buildin' son of a gun. his car appraised at 150 Grand. he called Grundy and told them he was takin' the car from Tulsa to Florida(in a trailer) for a show, and wanted to increase value too 200 Grand. Grundy said have a good time. that was cool.

I don't have it yet (the car is old enough, but I'm not).
My dad has it on his '41 Chevy Sedan.
No mileage limitations.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go with them in the end.

I ended up going with American Collectors Insurance. It gives me $300,000 each for Bodily Injury/Property Damage, UM/UIM Bodily Injury/Property Damage. I do have a millage limit of 5,000 miles a year but I really don't think I'll go over that. With the 5,000 I CAN go wherever I want, when I want. It doesn't have to be a parade or show or anything like that. The cost is only $158.00 a year. I like to drive where I want when I want and not worry if I'm 'legally' covered.
