I'm trying the shift adjustment that C4C5specialist posted and need to know how to get the console off so that I can get to the adjustments. Anyone have a diagram? I need to purchase a manual soon. ;)

Thanks,

Leon

OK, I got into the console without breaking anything. Now I find that the bolts to loosen and tighten are a huge Torx bolt. Don't have anything that size. ;) Since the car has 80k miles I may look at changing the trans fluid and the clutch fluid. Changing the tranny fluid on my C4 made a world of difference.

Also, I find that I can take the shift knob and spin it around 360 degrees no problem. I even pulled the knob and off. Should it come off this easy? I'll post pics soon.

You may be able to use a large flathead screw driver in the torx head.

Tranny and diff fluid change is a must with that mileage. I swapped mine at 25K and the shifting difference was big.
Go with Redline D4-ATF, and 75W90 gear oil, which already has the frition modifier. You won't be sorry.

Go buy a torx bit for a ratchet drive. Auto parts store.

The shift knob sounds like it's missing the wedge shaped pin. I think some call it a devil pin/clip It can be a challenge to remove it.
Either get a replacement pin from the dealer, use a lock nut from below on the shifter shaft, or get an aftermarket shifter.
