Help! Have a noise coming from the back left rear.

Anyone care to chime in their thoughts. Have what I thought was a knock in the engine but after further investigation it appears to be coming from the left rear. CV joint perhaps? Not much of a mechanic here but took it to the dealer and they want about $700 but really aren't sure of if their diagnosis is going to fix the issue. Looking for some help. Initially, dealer diagnosed a heat shield issue. Removed the exhaust and tightened the heat shield. However, that did nothing to remedy the issue. Now, they're looking to replace CV joint but sounds like they're guessing to me. In advance, thanks, for any and all help.

It sounds to me like it could be the axle splines. That would be an easy and cheap fix. It certainly would be the first place that I would start.
