Hey everyone,

So this morning i decided it was time to install my hooker competition headers.
This evening, I am stuck.

I got the old header out.
I can not get the new header in.

The old header listed UP out of the engine compartment, but the new header can not drop DOWN into the engine.

I tried to push the new header UP from underneath the car, and i don't have enough clearance. How far off the ground does the car need to be?

Thanks everyone!!!!

Put the car up on ramps or jack stands and they should go in with no problems. The passenger is easier to get than the driver's side. On the driver's side the trick is to get it past the steering box. Are they full length headers or side pipe headers? I've had both and the full length were a piece of cake to put in and the car didn't have to be that high up. The side pipe headers were a little trickier to get in and the car had to be at least 12" off the ground. On the driver's side I put towels in the engine compartment to keep the header from getting scratched while twisting it around to get it past the steering box.

Seems like I took off the z-bar and that helped.. also watch the oil filter.. You will probably need to use the short one, definately not the long one. Headers fit with the long Fram on the engine, but you can't unscrew it after header installed.
