I have a low beam out and went to 2 parts stores and it seems you can't buy incandescent headlight bulbs any longer--not necessarily a bad thing. The bulbs that I found that would fit are halogens--"50% brighter than ordinary bulbs" printed boldly on the package. I decided to buy 2 low beams as I have a feeling that they have a different color light and will change both out this weekend. Do these bulbs cause any problems with old electrical systems or is this just a simple no brainer?

It's a simple no brainer ;) I've been using them for years ;)

Thanks for the affirmation. Its been one of those springs.

You will like them, the beam's whiter and brighter, a lot easier to see at night.

So, should I do the high beams too?

Personally, I don't do anything until I have to.

If you can see well enough with the OEM's, keep them until they blow!
