My headlight dimmer switch stopped working, probably because of the plastic part that fell out. It doesn't appear broken, but I don't see how to connect it from the stalk lever to the switch. Does anybody have drawings from a Service manual that would help?

Thanks!

There is a rod which runs from the dimmer switch on the column up to the lever. That plastic part which fell out probably goes on the top end of that rod.

Did you have the column apart when it fell out?

I saw the rod, and assumed it was part of the key to reconnection, but haven'g found just how to connect it. It kind of feels like the rod is not connected at the other end.

I did not intentionally have the steering column apart, but my knee hit the small molding and popped it loose. When I got home, the plastic part was on the floor.

Well, I didn't have any luck getting the part re-installed, so I went to the dealer. The service guy looked at it, and said that the reason it came apart was that the tilt mechanism had a pin come out, and there was too much play. The fix is to replace the tilt housing assembly ($250 for the part). Does this make sense?

I didn't ask about labor, but I don't want to take that job on myself, anyway.

I had the dealer change out the tilt housing assembly and cam. The labor came out to 3.5 hours (book rate) at $45. The total bill was $442..., and I am satisfied.
