Headlights going crazy!!!

I need to know where to start looking. My friend has a 2000 A4 coupe. Every time she applies the brake, the headlights pop up. When she lets off, they go down. If she turns the headlights on, they work properly. Any suggestions??

Maybe a pinched wire underneath the dash, where the brake pedal is located????????
If the pedal pinches the feedback wire, they could come on.
Do they pop up without the lights going on?????

If that doesn't work, get a priest because you car is possessed!

C4C5, yes, they pop up without the lights coming on. If you turn the lights on with the switch, they work normally. I'll start looking this weekend.
