Here are the symptoms:
1. Headlights on - digital display- all functions work but no radio illumination on buttons, etc and no tuner display. Info panel switches not illuminated but working perfectly
2. Now, headlights on, digital cluster totally dark, cluster lights up only with headlights off. No illumination on radio or cluster switches at any time
3. This happened once before but corrected itself.
4. I don’t think dimmer function on headlights works any more
5. Have new headlight switch that hasn’t been installed yet.
6. Hoping you have a miraculous easy fix
7. Have read threads about poor grounds etc. Hope somebody has quick easy fix for this. Just hoping this is not going to be a major PIA as husband is more interested in rebuilding clock on his 70 convertible.
8. This is for my 88 coupe, and my car doesn’t always get helped first. It is nice to have the cluster to know how fast you are driving and what the temperature is. I can’t drive my car to work anymore if I think I will need headlights, I can’t afford the speeding ticket. My husband has suggested that I drive it in the daytime only.
9. The switch is not installed yet because when my husband bought it they told him it was self-catering. He got irritated because when he went to check the switch was still in the box on the dash where he left it. (I must say that my husband has been buying many parts on eBay, stockpiling them while they are still reasonable. He knows I love my car)
Hope you guys come through

Jon. Hubby loves your suggestion. He also wants to know if you know of any C3 sights you can refer me to.
I looked at the websites you recommended and I know I am going to have to spend some time there. I have to mow the grass yet today. It is great exercise in addition to having a lazy hubby. (After much kicking and screaming and a $100 powertool that he absolutely, positively had to have, we finally have the front porch looking beautiful)
Just took the car for a quick trip to the store. Hubby suggested that I try the lights. Instrument panel worked just fine. He thought that there was an 80% chance they would work since this happened before. He will fix it, he would just like to know the easiest way.

Anybody know where I can order the schematics for 86-89 digital dash cluster? Also parts list for same with industry or generic (not GM) part numbers for chips, transistors, etc.

Nothing wrong with my cluster, found out that the spare my husband bought works great but is for an 89 6-speed, mine is an 88 auto. This is great for him, but there is nothing wrong with his car. It will still work in mine if need be. Hubby has fixed all problems in my 88 and was about to put the dash cluster trim back on when he noticed one of the 882 lightlbulbs had burned out.

FYI: A&A Auto parts in PA has 882's for around $7. They only had one in stock and I picked it up tonight. (Bulb comes with new socket) and he ordered 3 more. He is going to replace them all since he has gone this far. When finally completed will post fix if anybody is interested.

Oh yeah, what does moved mean on forum new topics?

Also for the one person who said easy fix when posted earlier use credit card. Which credit card should you use for a Corvette? My personal opinion, if you don't know what you are doing, no limit AMEX platinum

To all who answered both posts, thank you very much. Hubby says I should stop driving in salt and snow. Most of the problems are due to corrosion… poor grounds.
