My dad went to the guy's shop who had my damaged cylinder head today. If it wasn't done today we were going to yank it and go elsewhere since he has had it for 7 weeks and hadn't touched it.

Well he went in to check and it was done. The guy ground down past the crack in the dented area and welded it up nice and left a rough high finish on it like we asked him to. Now I just have to get them milled. I'll probably have them both milled a few thousandths. My compression is only around 9.0:1 right now so it won't hurt much. Piston to valve should be plenty still.

I will take some pictures when I get home tonight after my Baystate Corvette Club meeting.

Pics... original damage.

finally!!

how much is left to do now? after you get the heads straight. are you going to just put them back on the 350? i can't remember if there was more damage than the heads

7 weeks for about 1 or 2 hours of work???

im sure you are happy to have your heads back!!!

Yes I am very happy. The guy took forever, but the work looks excellent as I knew it would once he finally got to it. I can't get to my other machine right now so I can't upload the pics. I will have to tomorrow.

Now that I have the heads back I will have them milled and then remove and replace the piston/rod/bearing in cylinder number 6. I have not removed them yet. I didn't remove them because I didn't want to expose the crankcase more than I had to if the heads were not repairable. Now I'll pop her out and replace them, I'm assuming the rod is bent at this point. I have 7 good ones from my original L98 that I can use. :)

looks good,,,,lemme know when your gonna yank it out, ill give ya a hand if ya need it :beer

scorp, what about the other side of the combustion chamber? It still looks very rough....

There are no high spots or jagged edges really. It "shouldn't" promote detonation, especially after it is milled. We'll see. :)

Hope things work out, I know you are wanting it back on the road soon.:Steer
