Was having shut down problems. Car would stop dead at about 200 degrees and wouldn't start again until the temp dropped back to 180-190.

Had a lot of aftermarket stuff on the car, fan switches, Delteq so I decided to take everything back to stock.

Replaced the opti and water pump and car runs great with one issue that is driving me nuts.

The car will start almost instantaneously in the morning with hardly any cranking. It will also start (no matter what the temp is) immediately after I have shut it down...like stopping for fuel.

The issue comes after it sits for several hours. It will crank for an extended period without starting. I'll stop cranking, turn off the key and back on and crank it again and it starts immediately.

Its almost like the starter is spinning the engine too fast for the Opti to sync the signal to the ECM.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Pete

Test fuel pressure at the rail to see if it holds then work from there. I doubt if it is electrical, sounds like a fuel issue.

Thanks,
I had thought about that, but got hung up too much on thinking that it must be a heat open electrical problem.
I never checked the fuel pressure.
I've seen the Schrader valve, figured that would be the place to hook up.
What kind of pressure is normal? I've changed the fuel pump years ago when the fuel sender went bad.
What I'm looking for now is drain back in the injectors?
I have 110,000 on the car.

normal fuel pressure just from key up, no stsrt is 35+ even 45.
after stsrt up it should be steady at least 37lbs. when you shut off the press should stay at least its normal area, 37 lbs for ex, for the next hr. Then it should take about 4 hrs for most of the press to bleed off.

The intank filter screen is good for clogging then there is the inline filter that plugs and prevents a good pressure from being stable.

Could be faulty check valve at pump , faulty regulator or injectors leaking down .All will bleed off pressure
