Im in a bit of a bind. i had a true dual exhaust system on my 1980, and for certain reasons had to switch it back to the original type exhaust system which didnt come with a heat riser valve (which is settin off the whole system). so my question is, does anyone know of a cheap replacement, or even a spacer that i could use in place of this contraption? they seem to be runnning at around 100 bucks, which would put a hurtin on my tight budget.
i am registering my car historically so emissions wouldnt bother my car, so i dont exactly need the valve, either a gutted one, or a spacer.
if anyone had any advice or even a point in a good direction, itd be greatly appreicated

Your exhaust manifolds have 2" outlets - 2" heat riser valves are very common; NAPA has them, so does Paragon, for about $35.00 (if you don't need the one with the vacuum actuator for emissions). The spacers are for 2-1/2" outlets (which all the fuelies had), and won't fit your manifolds. :)

Hi John

thanks for the info. This is the '80 frame replacement project car you have seen me post about. I wasn't sure if ANY 2" heat riser would work or not. All we are going to do is gut it anyway to make it into a 2" spacer unit so it doesn't matter if it's vacuum actuated like the stock unit or has the thermal spring like the older units had.
NAPA doesn't list the one for the '80 which would be a vacuum operated one so I'l look again for one from an older model that has the thermal spring and see if they have that. If NAPA has that older style it would be fine and a whole lot less expensive

Hey BArry!

Let me check my garage. I removed my '80's to make way for my side pipes...

No luck. I wish I had kept it now. Oh well- one man's trash is another's treasure.

BTW- I did find the intake ducts, the OEM distributor shroud, all of the OEM exhaust heat shields around the ram horns, and a couple of AIR check valves. I also found an LT1 intake complete with fuel rail and TB, a C5 alternator (used but works) and a power steering pump (new in bag).

Brian, thanks for the suggestion. That's just what I did and found that Volunteer Vette has the part for only $26. Just what we need

Mike, I sent you the link to the part from Volunteer Vette. They actually have it as just a 2" spacer unit which is exactly what we need and for only $26 which helps your budget greatly.

Darkshark, thanks for looking anyway. Amazing what you can find sometimes and what parts you can come across tucked away in the garage. :)
