I had to do a little patch/repair work to the heater box on my '65. I am trying to figure how to get the repaired section back to original appearance. Has anyone had experience with this or know of a product for this purpose? I saw a spray paint product at Eastwood for heater box and such, but I would like to know if anyone has seen it in action. Thanks.

Dave, I had to do some fiberglassing to my box also. It had some cracks around the outside. Here's what I did: Repair the box with fiberglass. sand it down until it looks like factory, with no bumps or scratches. Spray the box LIGHTLY (only in the repair areas) with flat black paint. When it dries, gently scuff the paint off with steel wool (only on the areas that were NOT repaired). Leave the paint over the repaired areas. When you scuff off the paint, it reveals the factory flakes and fibers that make up the natural finish in the box. It seems to blend in nicely and hides the repair.

Mike,

Thanks for the info. I might be able to do the same, but I think my repair was a bit too extensive. I am thinking of trying some type of antiquing paint if I can find something that looks relatively the same. I will take a serious look at it though. Thanks again.
