Heater control stuck?

Hello all, first post - but I've been a long-time lurker.

I have a '79 without a/c. It worked fine before the winter, but when I went to slide the heater control from full heat to cool today, it wouldn't budge.

Any ideas on what might be causing this, or what the possible fix would be?

Tough to tell what the exact problem is. It could be the slide in the console, problems with the cable, the door could be blocked, etc.

The good news is that you can get at some of the stuff just by taking the passenger side tunnel cover off.

I have put together a web page with some info on the HVAC system.

Okay - if I have to start taking things apart, how do I go about it? Do I take the center console out? How? Any advice?I looked at your website, but didn't see how to get to any of the switches...

Any help would be great.

Start by taking out the tunnel shield on the passenger side. This will allow you to get a look at the guts without getting too for into it.
