I just received my hose clamp kit today, and realized that I have no clue as to where some are supposed to go. Here's what I got in the kit:

2 large rad hose clamps...............bottom rad hose.
2 smaller rad hose clamps.............top rad hose.
2 very small screw clamps............expantion tank to rad hose.
(if I am not mistaken).

Here's where I'm lost:

2 cad plated screw clamps (5/8")??.....engine side h. hoses??
4 purple 5/8" or 3/4" heater hose clamps (spring style).
2 silver 5/8 or smaller (spring style).

Just observing the car, I see that the heater core has 2 different size tubes. The "TEE" looks like 3/4" on all 3 sides, as well as my expantion tank bottom fitting.

Hope this helps. Any info would help.

Thanks,
64 Mike

PS,: anyone have a set of used 2 1/2" sidepipes for sale? They don't have to be pretty, I just want to get this car on the road.:)

;LOL

Have you called the source that supplied them? I would think they may be a starting point.

Fairly easy.....use two small screw clamps directly at the expansion tank (that's the two silver ones) to connect a small piece of hose to the expansion tank and the the spring style clamps to connect the heater hoses to:

- heater core (2 req't, yes, they are ok for that !)
- T-connector (2 req't)
- engine (2 req't, one @waterpump, one @ intake front)

and that's it. There is another small screw clamp reuired to connect an overflow hose to the upper side of the expansion tank (small one).

Thanks for the advice guys:beer . Some of the finest details are not in any of my books, and I have been relying on photographs of 1964's that I take at auto shows. Even pics of 63's and 65's (could be way off :( ).Does anyone recommend a book that has good resto or original pics that would help?

One other question i have is which heater box stud gets the wire harness metal clip? If anyone has a good pic of the heater box area in a non-a/c 64, send it my way!

thanks again,
Mike

The best book that I came accross is:
Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide by Noland Adams. Lot's of detailed pics, descriptions and other stuff for all years.

Mike, the AIM for your year will provide the most valuable source of "which stud gets the wire harness clip" type questions, and all other questions involving proper hose routing, wire harness routing, little clips and gizmos that have long since departed your car which you might find desirable to have on there (such as the heater hose clip that attaches to the alternator on my 65, keeps the hoses out of harms' way and such was certainly long gone form the car when I got it), etc.

I strongly agree. If you are working on your vette this is the best $20 you will ever spend. All the parts, all the torques, most of the answers.

Dave

Agree.....for sure the AIM is the base invest. Noland's book is the best addition to that.
