as I make plans for what I am doing and not doing to my '60, one of the things I am considering is removing the heater completely and then glassing over the firewall side. I am not planning on putting AC in the car, nor do I figure that I will be driving the car in cold weather....so having said that....does anyone see some major down side for what I am thinking of doing? It would be like a heater delete option......also no defrost, but I can't remember when I had an issue in the summer with defrost anyways.....thoughts???? comments????

For those of you that saw Larry's yellow 62, the front firewall was very clean with the wiper motor removed and an aftermarket wiper system put in, I plan on doing something very similar...but I am thinking of carrying it as far as I can with a smooth friewall where it is possible....so thoughts?????

The only issue I can think of would be defroster on a rainy day or on a cool night.

I removed the heater in my 64 5 years ago. It has not been a problem. Like you it isn't driven in the winter except a short run to blow it out every few weeks and the lack of defroster has never been and issue for me. Go for it.

My vote would be to install a heater in the car.

Allthough we build our cars for ourselfs not the next keeper of the car.(as we all know nothing is forever)

I would suggest a heater, actually with all the work your doing I would suggest heat and a/c.But if i was doing heat only I would keep the original set up and fore-go the firewall smoothing.

Good luck

There are several companies out there that have simple kits, that are a/c and heat combinations that are very compact and work well. Vintage Air for one and another in Ft.Worth, Tx., that is cheaper, but I forget the name right off. That would be my thoughts...

These cars are too expensive to gut...looks loke it would be cheaper to do now than later...everything gets higher and higher every day. It would be a "must" to perserve the value of your car, in my view.

Around here heat and a/c is not an option...it's mandatory.
