I'm in the process of installing a new brake booster (see here), and I can't get the clevis off of the old booster.

I've tried grabbing the shaft (the little of it that I can get to) with vise-grips, but no luck on keeping them solid - the shaft just ends up rotating anyway.

Is there some trick to getting it off?

If I can't get it off, is this something I'll be able to find at my local Napa, or do I need to order it special?

Any help would be appreciated - I'm stuck until I can get that clevis off!

I had modified my clevis during the installation of a 7" booster so when I read the instructions for the hydroboost sysem and saw that I needed to reuse my old clevis I called Paul at Hydroboost. he was able to locate one in his pile of parts.
If he can't find another for you try here;

Thanks, but I talked to Paul, and he said that clevis won't fit.

I definitely need a new clevis - something is funky with this one, and it won't come off, even with a lot of heat. I think it might be welded...

Any other ideas where I can get a new clevis?

Sounds like it's time to do some junkyard shopping. There are some Corvette junkyards that should be able to help you. Here's one that I had bookmarked. I have not done any business with them.

Either that, or find something else that will work. You may have been on the right track with your first post. Does anyone know the physical dimensions (thread size, length, etc.) of the stock clevis? I may be able to go to an industrial hardware supplier and get a clevis that is the same size as the stock one.
