My passenger power seat will not move forward, probably because the control won't go forward. It goes up and down in both front and back. I am hoping there is just something in there that jams the switch. However, it is not obvious how I can get to the back of the switch. I see no screws to remove the center console panel. There is a plate over the section between the power seat controls where the electronic damping control would be.

How can I get in there to inspect the seat control?

To inspect the power seat control, you'll have to remove the center area. Inside the glove compartment locate thye screws (underneath carpet) and remove them.

Thanks for the help! I wasn't fortunate enough for the fix to be cheap. It looks like the button on the seat controller was damaged by pushing too hard. Anyway, I could get the actuator to move forward, but I just got the same grinding noise I get under the seat when I move it backward. I don't know if it is just off the track, jammed, or the underseat mecanism heeds replaced.

Have you removed the seat bottom.? The seat bottom is easy to remove if you look at the front of the seat you will see a wire clip. Flip that clip down and remove the seat bottom. Now you can see if something is jamming the seat.

Thanks! I took the seat bottom out, it's not off track or jammed. The seat mechanism works both ways sporadically, but it is not trustworthy. There is a grinding noise when it slips, so I suppose a replacement mechanism is in order. However, it comes after new R-tires and shocks, probably in the fall.

I haven't changed my avatar, but I no longer have the Polo Green 95. I now have a Yellow 95, and I have been going through fixing the minor bugs and chasing rattles.

Thanks again!

Bill, sometimes things just go wrong. Parts brake or "die" on us. Our Vettes are 13 years old. In 1997 I had a 92 Vert and the driver's sport seat's air pump system died. I never fixed it and I learn to live without it. Maybe, your passenger seat motor burned. You can do the following before you spend money.

Swap the seats, just to see, take off the driver's seat motor out and connect it to the passenger motor connectors. If it works with the passenger connections then your passenger seat motor is out. If it does not work is not the motor, it is a connection.

Start with the fuse box, seat power seat selector ( Never done this but try to swap the power seat selector), maybe a dirty connection, a loose cable. It could be many factors involved.

Good Luck Man! :w

I may have forgot to mention that the motor runs, but there is a grinding noise when it slips. I think the gears are just worn. Eventually, I will probably replace the complete mechanism. However, there are other things more important. I have seen a rebuilt complete mechanism in one of the catalogs ($250 or so exchange), but I may get lucky and find a salvage unit.

Thanks again!
