I took my 65', 327/365 out for a short spin Sunday when pulling off the fwy I started to here a severe clanking noise (I thought I blew a rod or something) I pulled over & it was really depressing.:cry
Anyway after it cooled down I tried starting it again & it sounded smooth as a baby's butt?
I drove it back to the storage unit (where I temporarilly have it) but once It heated up it happened again (it sounds really bad). I think maybe its the valve(s) sticking or?

Anyone have this experience? I plan to take it to a mechanic next week.

Thanks for any info.

Remove the valve covers....check all valvetrain first.

Remove oil and look for unusal smell or parts in there.

so you think its the valves to. ok will check.
Thanks for the reply
by the way very nice 64'.

Check your coolant level and thermostat too, there's something causing the heads to get too hot.
