I have taken all screws out, but the AC unit is still in, I can move in back/forward, but not up to remove it, am i missing something?? Looked at the AIM, but pics are no good. Please help?? Do I need to take the ac unit completly out?? If so..how?

Thanks

John

don't know for sure if it is necessary, I removed the console around the parking brake first. There is a screw from behind accessed from under the storage compartments.
there are speed nuts holding the console to the center gage cluster also
I seem to remember a screw holding the heater controls to the console after the shift plate was removed also.
Hope it helps

I removed that first, then the front screws for the console, it will shift back/forward, but not up so i can remove it, thanks anyway

do you have the shift plate off? the console should come up unless a previous owner put in some extra screws around the bottom
another possibility is there is a reinforcement bracket on the front of the console, the screws for that come in from the side at the front of the console and may have sunken thru the console itself

Thanks, I'll try that. If I cannot get it off, no bigger I'll just install carpet underneath it very carefully.. Thank you all!!

if it is an auto trans., do you have the gear shift in neutral? The console will not come off if it is up in park. You have to turn the key and the buzzing (key alarm) can drive you nuts.

Andy

ps; you also have to loosen the e-brake console and slide it back a little.
