Well I found the twin to my 1980 vette that I had when I was a mear lad of 28(20 plus years ago, sort of my first love) It's for sale! The problem is I want it, I'm afraid I am too emotional about this car and I'm afraid that I will overpay for it! The current owner and I have been talking about the sale over the winter and the other day he called and said I could buy it for $14,500, he needs to sell it and has now dropped his price by $2000. I have only seen pictures and talked about it's history and condition on the phone. (the car is 5 hours away) He is the second owner and his doctor was the first. It has under 30K miles, garage kept (heated), occassionally driven only in great weather. I'm going to stop on my way home from the National Caravan and if it is everything I think it is I will be bringing home alot of great memories and another vette. :D Any insite would be greatly welcomed. I was very lucky when I found my 93 and I don't want to make a mistake with this car. It's almost that I am destined to own this one.

I would think if it is all original, and real good shape, that $14,500 is a fair price, if it has only 30K miles, and kept in a heated garage. Sounds like it was well taken care of.

If it is an L-82 it would be worth a little more than the other models.

From your description, and the fact it has 30,000 miles, sounds to me like a pretty fair deal. i would think a 23 year old car with those miles would be like new or pretty close. just my opi robert

Sounds pretty good to me. I drove a 1980 L48 4 spd on friday that is for sale while visiting my freinds vette repair garage. It sat in the original owners garage since 1983,12,000 original miles. The paint was just professionally buffed out and new tires(the originals were dry rotted),brake calipers/hoses and master cylinder installed. The car looks/drives like brand new. Just for comparison they are asking $19,000.

What? Here an 80 in good shape would never sell for more than 8KUS. You guys should plan a buying trip...
Most sell for about 5K. My brother bought his 68 427 vert for about 10KUS...

Wow, are you serious!? That's amazing. A big block '68 for only $10k. :eek

Yesterday, for the classic car insurrance, my Vette was professionally appraised at $17.4k. And she's in magnificent condition, 44k miles, all original, Silver Anniversary Vette.

Sounds like a good price. :)

Check out autotrader.ca "northern ontario region" or search all issues for "corvettes"

Oh my goodness, those prices are out of this world. That's crazy. :) I'm actually go to go take a look over there.

Prices vary wildly by region. But I'm still not certain why old Vettes are so cheap in Ontario. Perhaps because of the very short driving season.

Now think about how much it would cost to travel to Ontario (fly to Toronto, rent a car, stay in hotels), find the right car, buy it, transport it, etc. etc. Be sure to factor that in to the total purchase cost.

Down here where we drive 'em 12 months of the year, they tend to cost more. Especially low-mileage ones, which are very hard to find (for obvious reasons). Mine actually came from Illinois...

Bottom line: That price is very good if the car is as good as advertised.

page62 brings up a lot of good points. It would cost a lot for a US Vetter to travel all the way up there. :)

I don't know, sounds a little high to me.

You live in Michigan? You should check out this one in Indiana:http://www.auto-rv.com/default.asp?area=browsedetail&adname=CLI340036 .

Several more were listed at http://www.auto-rv.com/ use their search engine.

You might also check out the Trader in your area if you have one, ours is at http://www.us.trader.com/USTrader/tdefault.asp

Here are a few I just found: http://www.us.trader.com/USTrader/v...KE&NumResults=10&btnSearch.x=82&btnSearch.y=3

I tend to shy away from the Corvette dealers, they always seem to be a little high,
Good hunting!!
