I got home tonight and looked at my brand new poilished stainless steel mufflers and low and behold a piece of plastic got melted to the drivers side muffler. How do I take off the plastic without hurting the finish?????

thanks

One thing you can try is getting the mufflers hot again to melt the plastic (or trying a hair dryer or something), then scrape as much off as you can this way. Then there shouldn't be much left, just a residue, and you could use a metal polish to remove that.

You could also try to carefully chip/flake the plastic off if it seems like it will come off that way. :w

You could remove muffler, place in a plastic bag and leave in your freezer overnight. The metal will contract slightly and the plastic will peel off without leaving any residue (works with most plastics);)
