I am installing umbrella seals on my car 1971 350/270. I removed the ring that was on the second grove which I am assuming is the o-ring, Do I push the umbrella seals all the way down as far as they will go or do I snap them into the oring groove?

Thanks

Jerry

the unbrellas go all the way down on the guide . hope you are using the new gm seals if they fit it isn't a bad idea to put the o-rings on too they go on last after the retainer is compressed steve :beer :w

This job is on my project list. How bad is it turning out to be?

it is not a bad job with the right tools a little more time consuming with accessories just time consuming and need to pay attention to details :Twist :w steve

Thanks for the help guys, The umbrella seals got pushed down to the bottom anyway when I put the springs back on. The job isn't too hard but you do need the right tools. My neighboor lent me his air compressor so the only thing I had to buy was the fitiing for the spark plug holes and a spring compressor. I bought one for $8.99 at autozone and it works just fine.
I am not finished yet but without anymore problems!!! It will probably take me 5-6 hrs for the first time. I spent alot of time looking for the keepers I keep dropping at night in my garage, one landed on the frame and it took an hour to find.

Thanks
Jerry
