...otherwise I would not ever impose on anyone here to do me a huge favor. Here goes: My driver's door is cracked and needs to be replaced. The cost for the repair is just under $2,000. Atmmac sent me a message alerting me to the fact Ebay has a black '01 driver's door. I want that door, providing it's the original paint. Here it is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33696&item=2466981541

The favor is this: I don't have an Ebay account because of misuse of it by my nephew (I'm supposing he bid on stuff and never actually bought it). I can't even open a new account. I need to contact the seller and ask him if the door is a repaint... if the stickers are on it, etc. I really want that door! The dealership said they'd charge $175 to install it.... plus I would really like to avoid new paint. That's a tremendous savings.

Would it be too much to ask someone here that has an Ebay account if they could shoot the seller a note asking about the door's condition? I don't know how I'll bid on it if it's in great shape... maybe he'd just take a bid someone here passed along? I'm not real sure how Ebay works.

Thank you sooooo much, Andy, for letting me know about this opportunity. That was so thoughtful. All you guys/gals have been great. :w

Many, many thanks to you. :) I wish that I could reciprocate in some manner. I truly do appreciate it. I am so excited!!!

Hi Mary:)
From looking at the pic"not a very good shot" it looks to be intact, but its hard to tell from the image "looks like water spots on the photo or somenthing", I dont mean to sound negative but have you checked the hinges/framing the door fastens too? I'll email the guy and ask for a few better pics and let ya know what he sends

Hi, my friend! :) See? I don't know what questions to ask. I only have computer access at work right now - and the bidding ends in 8 hours or so. I'm hoping he responds to someone and they can, on my behalf, give him a bid. My thanks to you.

Okay, I just had a "duh" moment. I see what you're saying, now. According to the dealership body shop, the hinge, etc. is in fine condition.

Ack! It's got a BSM!! My car doesn't have them. :cry

I don't know what your BSM is but this is the guy's response:
no the door has not been repainted it is the factory paint with no scratches
on the door is complete with all stickers and i have all paper work for the
door the door is in perfect condition and complete

If I can be any more help let me know.
Mike

Thanks, Mike, very much. BSM = body side moulding. They're not a big deal to take off anyway. Ohhhhh I wanna get that so bad! I'm going to try to set up an account from work.... maybe that will work.

hi
He didnt have any other pics to send, I would have liked to see the outside of the door myself, and the flanges for the door attatchments, and the locks etc,
but ebay = ebay, im sorry I couldnt be of more help
sherry:cry

01TriBlack -

Try having Anytown send the guy your work email address or ask him for a phone number for you to get in contact with him. It would be a shame for you to miss this opportunity.

Good Luck!:)

Ha! I was able to set up a new account from work!! That's odd - I thought I tried that a while ago. I got a bid in. ;) I don't have computer access at home right now (crashed 'puter out for repairs)...so I'll have to wait until tomorrow a.m. to see if I win the bid. Darn it all. Maybe I should up my bid really high? Advice on bidding anyone?

Now I can write him with a sob story... since I was able to set up an account from work. LOL! Teasing....well, kinda. ;)

Thanks for your reply, Koolaid. :)

Mary, I see the door is in Utica, Mi. That's a short drive for me. Let me know if I can be of any assistance for you. If you REALLY want that door, there are websites that you can pay to "snipe" it for you in the last few seconds. I haven't tried any......but if I REALLY wanted something on Ebay, I probably would give em a shot.

You could also try emailing the seller with your max offer. I don't know the rules for pulling a bid, but I do know that a couple items I've bid on were pulled before the bid time expired.

Okay, I don't get this. I just got a notice I was outbid. I went in and increased my bid another $150 - and got a notice the auction ended! It had 6 hours left!! :cry

Brett, that's what just happened. I am in tears. Damn it!!!

Thank you so much for offering your help, by the way. It sucks to get your hopes up. I guess I shouldn't have. I was so happy to think I wouldn't have to have a door painted. Oh well.

Bummer....

Something doesn't smell right. It almost seems like someone reading this thread decided to one up you :mad . Keep that in mind the next time. Sorry you didn't end up with the door.

All is not lost...the reserve wasn't met...that means it didn't sell...write the guy and ask how much he is willing to take. And it seems like Roadster Fan would do you a great service

Hi, Jon. :) The reserve was met. It was $175. When I started bidding, it was at $295. I put a maximum bid of $400 on it then got a notice I had been outbid by $5, so I was just going into raise my bid to $550 and got a pop-up saying the auction had closed at the seller's request.

Yes, Brett's going to bat for me. That's very, very cool.

:w

Mary

Something is fishy with that auction...It says the starting bid was 175 and it also says the reserve was NOT met...I think you may have saved yourself a few hundred dollars...why else would the guy take the auction down before it was over. He also had only an 80% pos feedback
