How do I get to and sucure the ground behind my instrument panel on my 1985 coupe. None of my door locks, windows, ac ect working properly, Help!;)

Welcome onto the boards there!

You have checked the fuse panel?

Do you have a multimeter? I imagine that the circuit that controls those functions is identical on most all C4 vettes, so perhaps someone will post up the wiring diagram for a common ground (or common 12V source).

Do you have FSM manual?

First,. you need to establish if there is power to all these things and IF it is intermittent, then it can be a loose or blown fuse, the fusable link attachments or worn or dirty connections at the part thats not working. These parts also wear out and fail. Switches are common for wearing out.

That ground behind the IP is only one of many...its just for the instruments display.

The more likely position is a group of grounds that attach to a bolt on the trans bellhousing near the oil filter.

Thanks guys,

:WThanks guys, I don't have a FSM manual. This all started after I changed my instrument cluster panel. I am getting power to the door locks courtesy light, windows ect but when I try to activate power locks they don't pull in all the way or when I try to put the window down I hear a humming sound and I have had to pull the fuse out of the courtesy light to shut the light off. I did find a wiring schematic diagram on line for a 1984, which I asume is the same as my 1985. The diagram show a common ground for all the things that are failing behind the I/P. Before I pull the Cluster panel again I not sure what to look for behind the I/P?
