HELP NEED AN ANSWER TRANNY LEAK

I was told by my mechanic that my tranny leak was coming from the (auto) shifter shaft coming out of the tranny, he also said he might have to pull the tranny to fix it, has anybody had this repaired before, and did they have to pull the tranny?

Trans leak

A repair like that can be done in the car. Worst case is to drop the pan.
