Hi all . My wife's little red FI is finally back on the road and run'in great . (stopping great too) We've got a couple of questions : 1) the drivers side wiper does not work -- it's not all the way down in it's "socket" . If if push it down while the motor is running , it will "catch" , but it won't stay . HOW DOES THIS CONNECT ? 2) I can't remove the inside door lock knobs -- door panel material seems too thick to use the "c clip" removal tool . ANY THOUGHTS ON REMOVING THESE KNOBS ? 3) We would like to improve the handling (front end) . ANY "KITS" OR SUGGESTIONS ? Thanks in advance , and hope all have a happy holiday season , George and PJ

1. Wipers - the wiper transmissions have an internal spring-loaded clutch mechanism that connects the little pulley on the bottom that's driven by the cable from the motor to the output shaft that's splined to carry the wiper arm; pushing down on the top of the wiper arm (or output shaft) disengages the clutch, and is done to re-tension the drive cable. The top end of the shaft is supposed to "stick up", if you will, to maintain engagement of the internal clutch teeth. These things corrode over the years, and sometimes need to be rebuilt - try Mary Jo Rohner (www.vettegal.com) for a rebuild quote.

2. Lock Knob - just takes patience - someone may have re-installed them with the clip installed backwards - try it from both sides.

3. Most of the C1 handling equation is tires - if you have bias-ply original-type tires, ditch them for a set of 205/75-15 radials and you won't believe the difference (and you won't have to change the speedo gearing). If the front suspension bushings, kingpins, or tie rod ends are worn, all the Corvette resto parts houses have complete rebuild kits - just follow the procedures in the ST-12 and be patient. A good set of shocks also helps a lot, and keep the 22 grease fittings lubed every 1,000 miles - all the suspension bushings are metal-to-metal and need lubrication.
