2009 Black-on-Black Z06 ("The Vicious Z")
I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

So I thought I had the plan in the bag. I have a 2009 Z06 and was planning to purchase a 2012 wheel and transplant my airbag and center cap. Before the transplant, I was going to send the wheel to DCSW to have it re-wrapped in alcantara and yellow stitching. Yellow stitching is not available from GM.

Then the plan ground to screeching halt. The guy at DCSW, who by the way have been great throughout the process, told me they don't re-wrap 2012 wheels. Bummer.

So aficionados, the question is can I transplant the spoke caps from a 2012 wheel to a 2011 wheel? I would still buy the 2012 wheel, transplant my existing airbag and install it in my car. The leftover 2009 wheel gets returned to DCSW for credit against the core deposit. The hope is I could transplant the spoke caps and airbag from the 2012 wheel to the 2011 wheel I got from DCSW.

Got any other suggestions on how I get a 2012 wheel with alcantara and yellow stitching into my 2009 Z06? Thanks in advance.

DCSW Can Re-Wrap and Re-Stitch the 2012 Steering Wheel

It would seem that I misinterpreted what I was told. DCSW DOES re-wrap and re-stitch the 2012 steering wheel. You can ship them your wheel for re-work or they can ship you one from their inventory in exchange for a core deposit. I thankfully retract my original post on this thread and look forward to involving them in my project.

Clarity Achieved

So, I was able to figure this out and here are the results. I'll keep my comments limited to the 2012 Z06. Yellow stitching is indeed available in the 3LZ package. It should be noted that it's only available with ebony custom leather. Yellow stitching is excluded from the Centennial Edition interior.

That said, I was looking to upgrade my interior with the following add-ons/replacements:

- 2012 steering wheel wrapped in alcantara with yellow stitching: Since this is only available as part of the Centennial Edition interior, yellow stitching isn't available. I purchased a leather wrapped wheel and sent it to DCSW for re-wrapping in alcantara with yellow stitching.

- 2012 seat conversion in ebony leather with alcantara seating surfaces and yellow stitching: This is indeed available from GM and I ordered it from Parts Taxi.

- Shift knob wrapped in alcantara with yellow stitching: Since the alcantara wrapped shift knob is only available from GM as part of the Centennial Edition interior, yellow stitching isn't available. I sent mine to DCSW for re-wrapping in alcantara with yellow stitching.

- Alcantara shift boot with yellow stitching: Same as the shift knob.

- E-brake handle wrapped in alcantara with yellow stitching: Same as the shift knob.

- Alcantara e-brake boot with yellow stitching: Same as the shift knob.

- Console lid wrapped in alcantara with yellow stitching: Same as the shift knob. I may actually forgo this and use the leather wrapped console lid with the Jake skull logo and ebony stitching I just ordered from GM.

Should be a pretty sweet looking interior when I get it done. :thumb
