I need to paint the centers of my aluminum wheels. What type of, and shade of black paint should I use? Do I need to use a primer? Any application suggestions? Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing. I did one wheel like this...

I'm trying to decide if I like it.

I don't know which black is black for the wheels.

Sorry I'm not much help, but, good luck.

Proper application of Acetone

I just started removing the crappy faded black centers from the wheels on my 78. I am soakeng them in acetone to soften the paint and then sanding it off.
I then go to finer and then finer sand paper and finally buff them out with polishing compound.
The wheels look remarkably better fully polished.

I like the color in the slots

That looks pretty sharp.
It looks like the centers of your wheels are polished as well.

I painted one of mine, to see what it would look like.

I do have to agree with slyone, powder coating is the way to go. My buddie just did rims for his titan and they look great.

Chrome Rims

Hi All.....Love the Aluminum rims...BUT, I bit the bullet a year ago and purchased chrome reproduction wheels at a good price from www.virginiavettes.com Just found them on the web while searching...The rims provide a look that is well worth every penny...So glad I went in that direction. Just a thought.....

Powder coating would be nice for all the black painted areas; polishing the rims would also look good with the powder coating.
