Help, Still not working!!!

I need my vette back!!! I replaced the fuel pump/strainer, fuel filter, cleaned out the tank, cleaned injectors, purged rear fuel line, and my vette still not idling, if I throttle up, nothing happens but wants to turn off, I release the throttle and it runs again? I'm going crazy!!! replaced plugs, wires, rotor,cap no better. I think I need to purge front fuel lines, maybe there's something stuck in there? Anyone please help, I purchased the car, it sat for over 10 months, when I drove it, ran fine for a week or two, drove to work, came out ran like sh*t, discovered lots of dirt in fuel filter, but have since replaced all that. Help!!!! I am getting withdrawals, I feel the need for Speed!!! Jer :cry

In my limited experience this sounds like an air/fuel ratio problem, mainly that the computer isn't getting the right data or the wrong amount of air is entering the engine. Have you checked the following?

1. MAF connection and internal wiring
2. Looked for any holes/leaks in the intake between the MAF and the manifold?
3. Vacuum leak in the manifold?

If you had a really dirty fuel system, maybe you clogged the injectors with junk that got past your filter. I'm not sure about vettes, but on other cars the injectors have screens - the filtration is staged coarse at the tank, medium at the main filter, and fine screens in the injector. The way to check this is to observe the spray pattern.

Your idea of a clogged line between the filter and and main injector rails seems good. Maybe you can remove the schrader valve core with the pressure off and then run the fuel pump for a few seconds. Catch the fuel in a jar and see if any particles settle out.

Okay, gives me some new places to look, I plan on spending a few days trying to figure this one out!! I really appreciate everyones comments, I feel like I have my own personal group of mechanics right next door!!!! Thanks all..;worship

Is the fuel reaching the injectors?

Did you check the fuel pressure at the schrader valve? (somewhere between 40-47 psi)

How is the pressure when you open up the trottle?

Are the injectors clean?

First of all, check the fuel pressure and the injectors just to be sure it's a fuel problem.

I agree, it sounds like a fuel starvation problem. You need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and monitor it when you have your problems. You may have clogged another fuel filter.

Plugged exhaust system?.......EGR Valve? (Hummm, does an '87 have one? I'm guessing?) Bad gas sitting for 10 months?

Somewhat simular probs here

With my recently purchased 85.
But mine just runs and idles irradically. Found the oxygen(?) sensor wire slightly melted on the exhaust. After a few inquires was told this sensor operates on very low voltage and any problems with it will cause many problems that will drive folks nuts.
$25 to replace.
Will be using Chemtools fuel system cleaning kit first then changing the sensor, cap & rotor, plugs, air/fuel filters and PCV valve.
My conditions are hard starting, rough idle, rich and then sometimes lean throttle.
This car also sat acouple of years but was fired often. The fuel was nasty and have just about ran the mix of 1/2 tank bad gas 1/2 tank premium w/ injector cleaner through it. It has been running better but the idle starting probs will probably remain until the sensor is replaced.
Willbe taking the car to a good vette shop after I'm done regardless. So I have a good base line to start this 1st ownership from.
Might suggest finding the same for yourself. Big $$ but it should save Me from bigger bills down the road due to my ignorance on vettes
