Lookin at a 2008 Z with 800 miles on it. Is there any potential problems with a 2 yr old car with this few miles? Also is there anything in general one needs to know about with the 08 model year? Thanks

John~ Since you're looking at a 2 year old car with only 800 miles, there's a good chance the battery is "weak" and will need replacing sooner rather than later. The cars' worth is in the high 40's so you know the market. Has the car been modded? From what I understand, the T6060 trans has had some weird noise coming from it during super easy launch. I mean just rolling from an idle, it can be heard. Some people it bothers and some don't care.
A friend of mine has a 2008 and it bothers him. I can only hear it "rumble" from outside the car in a quiet parking lot, so it's a non issue to me. (I have a T56 in my 2006 Z06, BTW.)

Get ready for the ride of your life!:thumb

My '08 has the same noise in the tranny - from all I understand there is nothing wrong - just noise. Doesn't bother me. I actually had the same noise in my 1999 FRC tranny and never had any issues. I think the biggest problem I have with the car is in the tires... The GY supplied run flat F1 supercar's are really noisy, to the point that you have to turn up the radio to hear it and also, they wear out rather quickly, in as little as 12k miles (and some have gotten as little as 9k miles. My car has only 13k and I've already replaced the rear tires to the tune of $1300. I'm about to replace the fronts now and hoping for some restitution from Goodyear. Understand the 2011 cars will be coming with a redesigned tirefor better wear. If GY doesn't help me then I am changing over to Bridgestone REO50 Pole Position RF's. So you'll not ask - no, I have never "burned rubber" with the car - not what I bought it for.

There's a special procedure for checking the oil with the dry sump system so read that as soon as you get the car. (It requires the car to have been running long enough to get it up to temperature or it will read low, and you don't want to overfill it - easy to do if you check it cold. Trust me, it's been done.

As for the car having only 800 miles (although I cannot imagine anyone owning a Z06 being able to resist driving it so little), I think your car will be all right. It probably will need a new battery though, and I would even go ahead and change the oil based on its age.

This is the most fun car I have ever owned and it's relatively trouble free if you take good care of it. I intend to keep mine for many miles!

Thanks Mike
appreciate the info. Regards. John

As far as I know all the lil bugs are gone by MY '07....'08 should be fine. Check Carfax to see if wrecks....but sounds like you found a 'cherry'....good luck w/your new Z....that's my next buy....
