Howdy,

I just replaced the driver side rear caliper because it was leaking. Now before it started leaking I had pretty good brakes. Now I gravity bled the system and I still dont have any brakes what so ever.

Pedal goes right down to the floor and only the front brakes kick in.

What is the proper way to bleed this system. (I dont have a compressor so I cant pressure bleed it)

You can gravity bleed the rear system. The rear caliper has 2 bleeders, an inner and an outer. Bleed the inner first and then the outer with the gravity method starting from farthest to slosest to the MC. Sometimes aftermarket rear calipers have 3 bleeders on them. This 3rd bleeder is not susposed to be installed and really should just be a metal plug. It is lower on the caliper once mounted and you should not touch it.

I just rebuilt most of my brake system: power booster, VBP O-ring caliper conversion kit and SS braided flex hoses. The MC and the rotors/pads were pretty new from the previous owner.

I gravity bled the system until new fluid was coming out of each bleeder but still wasnt getting a solid pedal. I then did the pump and hold method 5X to each bleeder and went around the car 2X. By the time I was done I had probably gone through a solid quart of fluid, but my pedal is now very solid.

P.S. I cant stress enough about using the VBP O-ring pistons & seals for the longevity of your brakes.

Good luck

Brent....
