My hood wasnt closing completely on the drivers side, so I adjusted the latching mechanism, unfortunately I turned the center pin up too far and now, that side of the hood will not release when I pull the release cable. It will not even release the first stage, so I can not get to the secondary latch. The cable is fine because the passenger side releases fine. The car is a 69. Has anyone had this happen and do you know how to fix it?

Are you saying its not opening? If thats the case there are rubber plugs just infront of your windshield wipers that are removal. Taken them out to gain access to the latch mechanisims.

I can see the plug on the passenger side but can not see it on the drivers side. Its a 69 so I have the wiper door, which is down making things harder to see. Also I can get the hood up enough to push the secondary release but the drivers side still does not pop up, does anyone have any suggestions other than the plugs in the firewall area.

When I reinstalled my hood after an engine change I ran into the same problem. I ended up, VERY CAREFULLY, shimming the hood (around the perimeter) into different positions to allow the "spike" to clear the latch mechanism. While I carefully shimmed, my son applied light pressure above the latch to help release the pressure on the spike, and when he felt the spike come free he released his pressure, and up popped the hood.
NOT an easy chore, but it worked.
