I saw my engine and trans come out and back in twice in my '84 with little ill effect

Summary:

Remove the hood
Remove the cooling stack
Remove the exhaust
Remove the C beam and prop shaft
Strip the engine and trans of accessories, wiring and hoses
Remove the engine and trans
