I have finally talked the better half into letting me buy my first Corvette. I have been planning on buying an early C5, 98 or 99, this summer when the C6's start selling and the prices of C5s start to drop. I just found a website that states the C5 didn't have the Paasenger Airbag Shutoff switch until '01. Is this true? Can this switch be retrofitted for a '99 or '00? I have children and can't see myself buying this ride if I can't take at least one of my sons in the car. I am not sure if I will have the $ for an '01 as a weekend car.

I believe that the mid year 2000 had the cutoff switch. Mine did not, so since my 7 year old would be riding with me. I took mine to a shop that specialized in aftermarket conversions. They put the switch in the glove box and it looks very professional. Good luck on your search.

Thanks for the help. How much would I expect to pay for the retrofit?

When I had mine put in it was $350.oo parts & labor.
