Hey Vig! What about the Bleeder Screws

I was just roaming the net again and I came across some

Speed Bleeder Screws

Now I realize they are for brakes and are a GREAT Idea but can I "borrow" one for the clutch? (Im pbly missing something Im tired Lol)

Those bleeder screws ARE great! They come in about every size you can imagine, so I would be shocked if there is not one that will fit your slave cylinder. HOWEVER, the problem with bleeding the clutch is the orientation of the line.

Brake lines go down gradually, or for some other reason, they don't trap air like the clutch system does. The best way to bleed the clutch is "bottom up." That is, force the fluid from the bottom, through the bleeder screw and up into the master cylinder.

All that said, I have been able to bleed my Vette clutch by just doing the two man method as if it were brakes, and then letting is set overnight letting the bubbles work their way up. I expect that there is still a small amount of air left, but the pedal feels solid and works great.

If you search a little, you can probably find the speed bleeder website where you can order them for about any car ever made.

Oh Vigman and I went through Clutch 101 a few weeks ago and Ive since done it. I got it down to a mastered trade but I was looking at the whole system I built to do this and I felt that with those bleeder screws I could do this myself....(As not to hear the wife whining "Are you almost done?!?" LOL)

I built a clear tube assy that hooks up to the valve cover and trails down to the slave. that much hose allows that much fresh fluid and air to travel better. At the Valve cover I have the hose going into a clear coke bottle. Now If I used this screw I wouldn't have to back and forth the stock bleeder, allowing me just to pump without problems.

Thing thats got me is I have fresh DOT3 in the tube and these plugs are designed not to let anything in right? Does that make these usless for my application? Or can the fluid still come from the master res. And nothing but air from the bleeder?

(Can we tell Im the Lone Ranger LOL)

My fav way to bleed

One of my fav ways to bleed clutch systems and other hydraulics is to use a mighty vac.. it's a vacuum pump with a plastic bottle you attach a hose to the bleeder and the other end to the bottle then the other hose on the bottle to the bleeder and pump the fluid into the cup.. just make shure the cap is off the master and that it is full of fresh fluid.. this is a nice 1 man op. speeded up my replacement time of master and slave cyclenders.

You know what good idea this gives me a double excuse to go buy one. 1 I need it for my tool box anyways as a apprentice and 2nd VETTE! Lol
