During storage, I switched my SLP - 3 pod air intake from my LT4 to my LT1 in prep for selling the LT4. I ran the SLP intake on the LT4 all last year, no SES. Well to ease in the tinkering, I swapped all the pieces from the throttle body to the air filter, including the MAS housings & power coupler's. The part numbers from GM when I checked were the same for the MAS flow housings. I got both cars out of storage last week, and serviced the LT1. Now, the SES light stays on in the LT1 after getting it back tonight (was on when I took it in)after an oil change and to check the SES light code, the Corvette certified mechanic at my dealer said the SES light will stay on because of the SLP intake, I cry BS. Specially when there were no issues with the LT4 last year.

A diagonostic was run on the LT1, no issues and no codes etc.

TOO much air intake for the LT1? The LT4 does seem a tad anemic but I know it liked the SLP and I am sure it just misses the air.

What say you all??:argue

Thats a hard one there,NO Codes and the light on!~!!:ugh:ugh:ugh

But to kinda answer your ?,Yes I've seen over oiled aftermarket air
filters pop a light, but they usually have a Mass Air Flow Sensor code with it !~!!;shrug;shrug;shrug

Put the original air induction system back on and go from there. If the SES light goes out, then it MIGHT be a mismatch with the LT1, and if it stays on, there's another problem somewhere. Then it's fix the problem and try the SLP induction system when the problem is fixed.

I agree with Dad!~!!:D

I apologize. I didn't read the OP correctly.

But I do want to confirm....the MIL is on but no codes, either current or history were stored?

If so, did you confirm that yourself with a scan tester? Or is that what the dealer told you? And, if it was the dealer, did you talk to the service technician yourself or was his comments relayed to you by a service writer?

In short, if the MIL is on but no codes are stored, that is a problem in itself which may or may not be related to the intake modifications. If you still have your stock intake, I'd put that back on for testing, clear codes and see what happens. If the MIL comes on again, but no codes or stored, the service facility, first, needs to address the MIL-with-no-DTCs issue.

Stupid question did you get all the intake plumbing hooked back up and the clamps tight with the hoses seated fully?

I ask because I have accidentally left one or two open at the edges just a bit even though it seemed seated fully. This will cause false air to not be read by the MAF and cause a SES light.

If your SES light is on as Hib mentioned and there are NO codes, that is an issue in and of itself.

OK, more info. Mis-communications, I talked to my writer & the mechanic, there was a code "MAS - Improper Flow" this intake is a non-oiled filter. I was actually going to pull it off the LT1 and put it back on the LT4 since I am racing Saturday, and got to thinking/talking with my writer that I should go ahead and put the stock lid back on the LT1, unhook the battery and wait, then see if it throws the code again. We also discussed why the LT4 never threw this code, well... when we installed the slp intake, it was during the dyno tuning so the a/f mixtures were adjusted for the intake, sound plausible? Anyways, if I keep the intake on the LT1, will try and get it dyno tuned for it, and another question, if i do not dyno tune the LT1 with the intake, any harm with the SES light staying on, wont retard performance will it? it will be aggravating tho :D I checked al the hoses and they are correct.

Thanx everyone:upthumbs

I'm unable to be of much assistance unless you can tell me the number of the code which set.

Also, the year of the LT1 was not stated, but if it is a 96, disconnecting the battery will not clear codes. You need a scan tester for that.

I would not tune the car on a chassis dyno if the service engine light is on.

Hib, it is the 96 LT1, thanx, so I did not unhook the battery. Swapped intakes, went to town, on the third re-start of the key, SES light went out. Guess I will just leave the cut lid K&N on the LT1 ....... it sure runs goood! :happyanim:

Thanx for everyones replies & help..
