It appears that Hib Halverson's purchase of his new Z06 is now paying off for the rest of us. I just read his article in the October 2012 issue of Corvette Magazine (my favorite Corvette mag) on the Corvette 427 engine development. I believe the information and insight came from his visit to the GM facility that builds Corvette engines for the Z06 / ZR1 in Detroit. As you know, he selected the option of building his own engine when he purchased his Z06. While I don't understand every detail that he presented (I am not an engine man and at my age, the little grey cells are almost full and won't play-back all the knowledge that they contain-if any), I did enjoy reading the article and was enlightened by the steps it takes in developing an engine for the Corvette. I am very happy that Hib published this in the Corvette Magazine and hope his follow-up articles are also published there. I recommend that you read it for the information, or just for the enjoyment of learning more about the Corvette power plant and why the GM engineers are very special. The illustrations included in the article are very helpful. I am wondering if these illutirations were taken by Hib or if GM furnished them. Thanks Hib, I do appreciated your articles and hope you have many more of them forming in your brain for future publication, as well as your posts on the CAC.

Thanks for the kind words, Barrett. Glad you liked the "Corvette Magazine" article.

While I did, indeed, do a motor at the Performance Build Center, actually, that story was based more in the interviews I did with GM Engineers working on Gen 4 V8s, particularlly, John Rydzewski, who's the SBV8 Assistant Chief and Yoon Lee who's in charge of the LS7.

That particular piece will be the only LS7 story I do for "Corvette Magazine" and it was my first piece for them. The Editor has said he was happy with the submission and is probably going to have me cover the C7 engine.

I just finished a near final draft of the first of a series of stories on the LS7 which are being done specifically for the Corvette Action Center. The first one of these is about building my engine at the PBC.

It will be posted here on the CAC soon.

Thanks for the info Hib - I was just guessing about the source of the article. Am looking forward to the article on the CAC and for more articles in Corvette Magazine.

Mr Halverson Thanks for the excellent article in Corvette magazine. Just the details on the pistons made me realize the number of nuances I had missed on the LS7. I very much look forward to your CAC articles filling the rest of the gaps for me. Thanks Again!
