I've installed an Edelbrock Performer intake, a Holley 600 carb, and Edelbrock (Tall) aluminium valve covers on my 79. I'd like to keep the stock dual snorkel air cleaner. The problem is the cover won't fit on top of the Holley carb. I've tried a 3/4" Edelbrock air cleaner space but the spacer doesn't fit properly and it binds on the choke butterfly linkage. I have not yet re-installed all the air ducting and boxes and I'm concerned I might not have the hood clearance. Temporaily I've installed a cheap open air Moroso cleaner and there's no problem with fit or clearance. I just wondered prior to me installing by trail and error, all the ducting and custom making a spacer, etc., if anyone else may have done the same installation as previous and what problems, remedies, recommendations, etc. they may have.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

You could always go back to the Qjet. The Holley will not offer any performance advantage.
I'm afraid I don't have the original Q-Jet. It would mean I'd have to go buy one. Besides would the Q jet give me any clearance advantage taking into consideration the Tall covers and the Performer manifold? I suppose if I have a Q-Jet I could measure the height of the two carbs.
