One wire is the 12 volt power supply and the other is ground. To hook up a relay and I always use relays. Hook the relay to a good source of 12 volts, The relay has a set of heavy duty 30 amp contacts use one contact for the 12 volts and the other contact run to the pump 12 volt supply line. Ground the pumps other wire,
To activate the relay put a switch, any switch , we are only talking mili amps. Anyway this is the arming switch. Pass 12 volts through the switch and run to the relay to the activation contacts, 12 volts in one contact and ground the other side.
So when you arm the pump/ turn on the switch power flows throught the relay closing the heavy duty contacts allowing power to flow from you good source of 12 volts to the pump.
Hide the switch if you want to use it as a thief device. Close the switch, the electric pump can't be turned on and if the car is stolen it will fire, run about 100 yards and quit leaving the thieves stranded. they will not hang around trying to find the problem.

thanks, i'll give you a shout tomorrow if I run into problems, but thanks for the head start..
