i wanna know how to make out date codes on the holley 2818 carbs...i see some on the net with 3 digits and i see some with 4 digits and some are all numbers and some have numbers and one letter....thanks again guys (learning alot on CAC) oh by the way..im asking alot of info lately and i should show you guys my coup i bought this summer (and love the car)

i messed up on attatching the pik,,here it is

thanks for the reply C5D..but im still a little lost...give me an example...like this 0457..what date would that be...thanks again

The three character date code represents the last digit of the year, the month, and the week within that month (1 through 5). Month number "zero" is October. November and December are represented by letters (A and B).

I believe Holley began using the four digit date code in 1972. The first three of the digits represent the day of the year (001 through 365).

4-digit date codes on a midyear carb indicate that it's a later service replacement - all factory-installed midyear Holleys have 3-digit date codes. The first three digits of a 4-digit date code are a Julian date (day of the year), and the fourth digit is the calendar year (1=71, 2=72, etc.).

I think the answer to this is "who cares - it's a service replacement" but how does one distinguish between 1972,82,92, etc.....?
