My cars cowl doesnt close properly. When I shut it the back stands up about 3/8's of an inch and it is not touching the bumber pads. If I hold the hood release lever all the way back and have someone shut hood it fits perfect but if you let go of the hood release lever and pull on hood it always locks in the 3/8s up position what do I need to do to get it to lock inthe lower position. Any help is greatly appreciated

does it close if you drop it from 18 inches up? thats the proper method. seems hard but works!

you may just need to grease the latches

18-inches!! At the most, I drop it from about five or six inches, no way would I let it slam from 18-inches up. It'll eventually take its toll on something if you keep dropping it from that high. :nono

Grease the striker pins on the hood also. Move the latches back and forth by hand (or with a screwdriver) to make sure they're not binding. I agree 18 inches is way too high.

Ken I know it makes a real thunk but thats what the owmers manual says and mine's been closed that way for 19 years now one thing about it it's a real solid piece!
