I'm having my 78 SA repainted and the shop if willing to paint the underside of the hood with the body color. If I don't replace the hood insulation blanket,k can anyone tell me how much paint damage will be caused to either the underside or topside of the hood? How quickly will the damage appear if the blanket isn't replaced? Are there options to increase air flow in the engine compartment to help reduce the amount of heat that's generated inside it? Thanks for your help

I removed the blanket 6 years ago and painted the inside of the hood as well. I have had no paint issues on the under or top-side of the hood... and it looks so much better without the blanket.

Regarding increased airflow and heat reduction... I would like to hear from others as well on that subject.

From what I have gathered, the hood insulation is mostly for noise damening only.

I painted my hood insulation so it doesn't look bad when installed.

I don't know about increasing the airflow.
